Day 3 and Day 4

 August 8, 2018 - It’s time to meet the students personally;  go inside in their respective classrooms. We, grade 7 level assigned student teachers, are to introduce ourselves to our students and observed for a while inside the classroom. Grade 7 level has 6 sections/classes, 3 for boys and 3 for girls. I am assigned to teach in the class of 7-1 and 7-2; an all boys class.

                 After introducing in Miss Britney’s class, at lunch time some of the grade 7 girls surprised us by giving a origami; a paper flower. It is so sweet of them to give something like that on their first time to meet us.

         In the afternoon session, my presence was called by my supervising teacher and she asked me to observe the students in class 7-1 while they are taking their exam. Some are still looking at me like, “she’ll be our teacher?”, “can she speak bahasa” and I would just smile at them and they would smile back and say, “Hi miss” My teacher heart is happy and proud as I see students smile and be respectful to me. As their exam time ended, I introduced myself to them in bahasa and they were all shocked they actually thought that I can speak bahasa but the truth is, I just used my phone to translate what I want to say. After introducing myself to them, I asked them to introduce theirselves and I also asked them to ask questions they want to know about me or anything. It’s nice to hear that students are asking questions because it simply shows that they are interested about me and in knowing me.

After mathematics time in class 7-1, I was also given the chance to introduce myself and have an observation in my second class, the class of 7-2. After my self introduction, I did the same routine I did with the class 7-1. I also asked 7-2 to introduce theirselves and ask them if they have questions for me or anything they want to know about me. It is important for us teachers or student teachers to know who will be our students, most especially their culture and practices inside the classroom; so we could teach them in an easy way and they could understand us better.

Day 4

This day was just about staying in the faculty room and preparing lesson plan and powerpoint presentation for grade 7 level assigned pre-service teachers. The grade 8 level assigned pre-service teachers already experience teaching today in their respective classrooms. I’m preparing myself to teach the next day which issupposed to be day 5, I’m scheduled to have 3 session with the class of 7-1. I’m hoping i’ll be doing great tomorrow and everything will work out fine. In the afternoon today, August 9, 2018; we were ask to go to UMSU after school for us to try and explore the project of one of the students of UMSU. It is actually our pleasure to try it first and help them by giving our advices to how can their project be more pleasing to the viewers and judges because their project is actually in a competition (nationals level). I, We are giving our hopes and prayers for this students to win in the competition.
