August 7 - The Headmaster together with the official photographer of the school gave us a Perguruan Al-Amjad school tour. They are very generous to say that we could maximize and use their facilities. I find their school very spacious and child-friendly for they have a wide school grounds which can accommodate all of their students. They also have playground for the kindergarten students and of course the pray room they have is also big enough to accommodate students every prayer time. Their library and their logistics room is also air-conditioned to keep the books and stocks (parang freshness). What I also find a good thing is that the students can use the elevator. If ever I live this place Medan, I would like my future child to be enrolled in this school for I am sure that they have all the means to teach the child and help the children grow.

Perguruan Al-Amjad Facts:

  • 6 sections/classes per grade level, 3 for boys and 3 for girls.

  • Science laboratory are fully equipped

  • They also have play ground for the kindergarten to be able to learn while playing.

  • Their library is full of new books.

  • They have logistics room forall the materials needed, uniforms are also stacked in there.

  • In junior high, The classroom of boys are seperated from the classroom of girls. They also have designated stairs for different gender.

  • In primary school, boys and girls are not seperated in a class.

  • Students and teachers are to put or leave their shoes in the door before entering the classroom.

  • All classrooms are air-conditioned.

  • The prayer room for boys and prayer room for girls are also seperated.

On the afternoon, We we’re able to meet our supervising teachers and discuss about the lessons or topics that we will be discussing and our schedule in our given class. My supervising teacher gave me class 7-1 & 7-2 they are both all-boys classrooms but she said I can switch with the all-girls for me to be able to experience and compare the two class.

Cultural practice

I’m very much surprised to see and hear students greet us, smile at us and have this sign of respect we call in the Philippines “mano” but they call it “Salam” and my teacher heart is really happy. I also find their practice of taking out of their shoes before entering rooms. I am actually enjoying every day because I’m learning new cultural practice as I also do it myself.
